Pulishing on Amazon

Here is what I have done.  I published some books on Amazon and put in the KDP programme and others opted out.  I’m giving it the 90 days to compare how both fare.  I notice quite a number of publishing houses on the American top 150 best selling books, in fact they make up 19 of the 20 top slots.  The pleasant surprise is at number 17 – Down To You, self published through Amazon Digital Services by M. Leighton.  Congratulations fellow author.  Thank you for raising the flag for independent authors.

Fifth Book In Libraries

Thank you Smashwords!  I am happy.  To these wonderful people who are downloading and reading my work, thank you.  To my number one supporter and motivator, thank you.  There are priceless people who support you no matter what.  Often times, they do it quietly.  One should never take these people for granted.  If you have some in your corner, stop to say thank you, often.   The point here being, I self published on another platform for years and none of my books were read, or distributed to retailers, nor did I have access to figures telling me what was going on.  Statistics help you chart the way forward and make informed decisions.

No Regrets, Robbie Williams

“No Regrets, they don’t work!” The only way not to regret never doing something is to just get up and do it, Now!

Akon And P Square

“How can anyone fall for your type?” sing these two gentlemen.  Then they proceed to say “Chop my money, cause I don’t care!” The say a lot of the don’t cares.  Followed by “If I try my best, I will be somebody!”

Akon & P Square are two of the exciting names from Africa in the music circles.  They are artists who take their business seriously.  In turn, both have made names for themselves, one across the continent, the other throughout the world.  Africa, like the rest of the ‘developing world’ is full of untapped talent.  One thing I will say with certainty is that internet changes everything.  The evolution and revolution is already under way.  Very soon, the next best sought after item in Africa, other than the cell-phone, will be a computer or any gadget that can do what a computer does.  The rest will be history in the making.

Book Reviews

Alright.  I do have a bias towards Huffington Post, just after The New Yorker.  Sometimes I read the book reviews and they are almost always better than my own books, then I go to the books being reviewed and I go wow! Some authors do not write words, they craft words!  And the same goes for some journalists.  I remember reading a piece titled “In Madonna’s Bedroom”.  The piece was about a journalist sent to interview Madonna.  Google for it onlinet and read.  I personally consider that to be one of the best pieces I have ever read, period.

Share your own best pieces and lets look at them too.  Email amusa2010@gmail.com.
